CREDITS!

This is the part that all my actors were waiting for! They want to be recognized for their effort put into this project so much that they won't stop saying “Ari make sure to put my name” or “Ari, are you almost done with the film?” I must say that they have been putting more pressure on me than the actual schedule. Yet, I also want to be recognized for my work in this project so I must say this is my favorite part. I am not done with filming…but, I have the part where I am adding the credits ready.

After questioning a little to my teacher, doing a bit of research, and moving things around in Premiere Rush, I got to finish editing the credits. At first, I just started searching for some graphing templates to add. I was so limited at first cause I was looking through the app and I thought there weren't more than 20, and none of them worked for my opening as they had either too many colors, were too big, or had extra details that would change the mood of it. I couldn’t use any of these or edit them so I started researching places where to edit them and after I noticed that I had to pay for some, and in others, they were professionally made for other purposes such as titles for magazines, letters, album covers, etc, I came back to the Premiere app and I tried again looking at what I had for the fonts. I noticed that there was a “more” sign! I don’t know how I didn’t see it. While looking through it I found a perfect template which was the Basic Lower-Third Left. It was great as I am adding it to the shot of the bible verses and they include some text in almost all the frame but the lower left. I still had to edit it and change some characteristics of it to make it fit better with my mood. I was thinking at first to add it in the black/dark shot that keeps a suspenseful space between each verse, but then, I noticed that it would be too boring to just put a dark background with white letters on the front and I would have to lengthen the shot as it wouldn’t be enough and fair timing for credits. I didn't want to do that as I would be using my time wastefully.

Besides I later started asking some doubts that I had to Ms. Stoklosa and I remembered to give credit to my cinematographer (meaning me). We checked off some other important credits such as editor, producer, director, and writer. I already knew that I must give credit to my main actors but I wasn’t sure how to just state it properly in my opening. So, I typed “intro film cast names” on Google, and after going through the images section, I found this picture from the scene of the film “The Guardians of the Galaxy." Once I clicked on the link, it sent me to the opening of the film where all the credits appear. I loved this opening. It was excellent. Very well-edited, and directed, and the creativity was amazing. What I liked about the style of the credits the most was that it perfectly matched the theme and mood of the events happening and that moment and with the overall film. The blue and orange colors highlight mostly the action genre in the galaxy as it could be compared with the different and intergalactic colors of space. As well, the neon or “laser” style of the letters conveys the energy of the fights and unrealistic events that happen. From this opening, I also got to notice how I could state the names of the main actors which was my main doubt. The way they did this was by typing “Featuring Vin Diesel as Baby Groot” and I loved how they showed the character at the same time as their name to highlight who is being named. So, I included this in my opening. It was perfect as well because I had enough space to add the credits in the beginning without the cinematography, but now, I had to move everything around. I decided to put first the “Produced and Directed by…” in the same shot and the “written by…” and “cinematography by…” in the next 2 shots of the bible verses and then the main actor “Adriel” in the shot after where he is running in the same way they did with the actors of the film where Baby Groot appears.

The styles had to be different ones as the colors are completely opposite to highlight that the bible verses are just a dream going on in his mind and that times are different. In the same way, the colors of the letters had to be distinct. In the bible shots to contrast with the light match moving it needed to be black and in the running scene, it had to be white to contrast but keep the same or similar aesthetics. I'm glad that I do not have any doubt left about this topic and I finished editing this part. I am very proud of my work and excited to know the final results. Yet, I am looking forward to finishing the production this week as we will film with my brother a couple more running scenes, the close-up of opening his eyes to the dream of the bible verses, opening the door to go out and run to his run, and the shots where he sees the dried flower softly touches it, and then destroys it to show his anger. I might not use all the scenes but I am still gonna film them all to complete the time and the idea and little by little take out the pieces that are not that essential or simply don’t fit. I recommend you keep yourself updated on my posts so that you can see the fun final filming scenes. See you!!!
